How to Resolve Auto DM Errors Based on the Email Error Message
When an error occurs, you’ll receive an email indicating what the issue is. Depending on the message, there are specific actions you can take.
In this case, please submit a support ticket with your Kittychat username and as much information as possible about the current situation.
Case 1
“The account owner has disabled access to Instagram direct messaging. Error code 200.”
If this is the message you received, please follow these steps:
-
Open the Instagram app
-
Go to your profile page
-
Tap the menu in the top-right corner
-
Scroll down and tap "Messages and story replies" (wording may vary slightly)
-
Tap "Message requests"
-
Make sure the toggle for "Allow access to messages" at the bottom is turned ON
Case 2
“The thread owner has archived or deleted this conversation, or the thread does not exist. Error code 100 (2534001)”
This message typically means the post was archived or deleted—but in most cases, it’s just a temporary error.
Try sending the Auto DM manually to the affected follower, and monitor whether the error occurs again.
If you're only sending to 5 or fewer users, sending manually is generally safe.
However, if you’re sending to more than 10 people, manual DMs could trigger Instagram’s spam restrictions.
In such cases, it's best to wait until the follower sends you a DM first, then respond. Sending too many initial messages can be risky.
Case 3
“An unexpected error has occurred. Please retry your request later. Error code 2”
This indicates a temporary or unexpected error.
Try sending the Auto DM manually to the follower and monitor if the issue persists.
It’s generally safe to send up to 5 manual messages, but sending more than 10 can increase the risk of spam penalties.
As with Case 2, it's safer to wait for the follower to message you first, then respond accordingly. Avoid sending many unsolicited DMs.
